We all know this Instagram perfect life, where people wake up nice and fresh and gracefully hop out of bed into refreshing meditation followed by enjoying the herbal tea in the kitchen and a delicious freshly made smoothie bowl. Sounds ideal. Doesn’t it?
Unfortunately, life doesn’t work like that all the time and if you are anything like me (not an early bird to say the least), the most mornings you just roll out of bed with puffy eyes, drool at the corner of your mouth and wrinkles from the pillow on your cheeks. Then you run around like a crazy person trying to get everything done in a rush to make sure you’re not late for work, school, creche or any other commitments you might have. For many of us, those extra ten minutes on snooze are precious sleeping time, but honestly it’s amazing how waking up an hour or even half an hour earlier can completely change your whole day. And, hey, I know sleep is important, especially in the morning (that has been my ‘excuse’ for a very long time).
This summer I told myself, once September kicks in, I will change something. I will make sure to start my morning routine and wake up every day an hour or half an hour earlier than I would normally do. I know it is only 3 weeks now, but seriously guys, that extra half hour means I can spend more time getting ready rather than rushing around the house as I used to, but more importantly I feel more fresh and more organized than ever before. Once I am up and awake I feel sooo good! I try and remember that good feeling when my alarm goes off every morning and Im so tempted to snooze again. I’m not gonna lie, it’s not easy, as I used to do that for so long, but even though it is still a challenge for me, I feel like slowly but surely I am getting there and it feels great.
As a major coffee lover I used to always start my day with a coffee. But I know coffee isn’t the only answer for those tired eyes and stiff muscles after the long night sleep.
Starting your morning with some form of exercise, whether its a little jam session in your pj’s in your bedroom or a walk with your dog or a gym session before you go to work, it instantly lifts your energy levels up and set you up for a much happier day.
I’ve been playing with this thought for a while now and I have decided I would love to implement something new into my morning routine. If you’re reading this, then you more than likely know me, so you know I’m kinda obsessed with dancing.
I would like to start a NEW morning DANCE jam session once a week, where we dance, sweat and have fun from start to finish. An hour of just DANCING. The class will be open to any current or ex ‘Dance Greystones & Bray’ members, or those who don’t need to be taught the steps and want to JUST DANCE. We will dance to all our choreographies that we have done so far (since May 2016) – Dance Greystones & Bray REPERTOIRE!
How amazing does that sound? Well, I have goosebumps from the excitement just writing about it!
All our favorite songs will surely set us up for the day. Not only it will get our hearts pumping, but it will surely slap a smile on our sleepy faces.
In my ideal world and to top it all of is to have a healthy yummy breakfast together after the class, where we get to catch up with the girls. If you know me, you know my favourite meal of the day without a doubt is breakfast. I just love having a huge healthy breakie! And to combine it with the chats and catch up with friends is perfection.
What do you guys think?
If you’re ever free on Tuesdays mornings at 10am, let’s make them special.
Let’s face the rest of the day with happy body and mind!
I know because of work or mommy/ wifey commitments it’s not always possible, but don’t worry – no need to sign up beforehand, just turn up when you’re free or when you feel like it & DANCE.
We will be dancing on Tuesdays at 10am in Purelight, followed by a breakie/ brunch in Red Bird Cafe Bray.
If you in any way relate to this post, let me know in the comments below or if you have ever had to make any changes to your morning routine to make sure you have a kick ass day, please let me know too, I’d love to hear all about it.
Love,
